Beginning April 1, The Odyssey and her cruising friends, Spirit of Washington, Capital Elite, and National Elite, will be going out on a regular schedule for weekend brunch, lunch, and dinner, and for holidays. The Water Taxi is also active now, 8 am-11 pm, Wednesdays through Sundays, leaving from the Wharf’s Transit Pier. Cherry Blossom is a holiday around here, and yes, the cruises are booking. Listen for their horns – it’s a welcome sign of spring in the city.
Here in the marina, we love seeing an active marina and we welcome the sight of the dinner guests all dressed to the nines! Busses of guests unload in front of the church on Main Ave and walk to the cruises using sidewalks around Waterfront Park. Guests driving here will unload next door, in front of Pier 4, and then have to find parking nearby, and definitely NOT in our reserved spaces. Those cruise tickets are not refundable same-day, so watch for late guests to dash through the park as the horns blow to signal – “All Aboard! We’re getting underway!!”
GPSA’s Board, as always, is in communication with ANC-6d, Hornblower, and The Wharf, assuring coordination of the pre-pandemic-level parking and placement of guides for these guests (potentially hundreds). We look to our ANC-6d (DC Advisory Neighborhood Commission) representative, Andy Litsky, as our watch-dog for issues that come up.
Please call or send any photos of issues you observe to Hornblower, Andy Litsky, and the GPSA Board.
