At the end of October, 2021, DC experienced high tides along with high levels of rain. The Wharf’s seafood market and Haynes Point were inundated to 3 feet. Restaurants near the seafood market also closed, Tiki TnT and Rapphannock Oyster Co.
Diane Groomes, Head of Wharf Security, informed the Wharf community, “The Wharf property from Market sq -Phase II was built above the 100 year flood plane … water would have to be higher than 8 feet to impact Wharf st and beyond to include the garage …. Flood mitigation has been enacted down by the Fish Market area and entities”
