Burn a Sock, Donate a Sock
My friend thought it was ironic that boaters burn socks, when homeless people need them.  And she made a good point.  Socks are the most requested clothing item by the homeless, but the least donated.  With that in mind, our Sock Burning Ceremony is also a Sock Burning and Sock Donation Ceremony.  In addition to bringing a sock to burn, please bring new, men’s crew socks to donate.  The most requested kind of sock from both men and women are men’s crew socks as they are thicker.

All donated socks will be delivered to S.O.C.K.S – SO OTHERS CAN KEEP STRIDING.  S.O.C.K.S. is a nonprofit (501(c)3) organization based here in the DC area.  S.O.C.K.S gives socks and other essential items to people facing homelessness.

Final Note: We will be using TWO donated Solo Stoves. Thanks to Dave Brandt and Dick & Laneyse!
