NEAR SE/SW 2009 SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE
FOURTH STREET NEIGHBORHOOD GROUP
The Fourth Street Neighbors will once again participate in the collection of school supplies needed by students in our SW community. Our efforts will be used to buy the backpacks and school supplies recommended by Amidon-Bowen (Elementary) and Jefferson (Middle) High Technology Campuses, the two public schools located here.
Boxes will be placed in the public areas of each of the residences along 4th Street (M to P) for contributions. They will be collected weekly until August 19th for the main distribution but items can still be dropped off until the end of the month. Distribution will again be handled by the Resident Council Group composed of the elected Resident Councils for each of our DC Housing Authority facilities. They are distributing an application to families living in ANC6D with students in public, charter, or private schools for a back pack stocked with most needed supplies on a first come-first serve basis. The supplies will be distributed before school starts August 24th.
