And even better yet, take a look at DC’s Data Catalogue. You can follow crime report feeds, view info on current construction projects, and search for public space permits. And those are only a few of the many data feeds available.
If you have a little techincal know-how, you can take this info and make some great mash-ups. One example is Stumble Safely from Apps for Democracy.
